Recreational Skates
Most widely used type, which is the "average" skates that can perform most movements. Wheel size is between 76mm to 82mm diameter.
Freestyle
Micro tune of Recreational skates, which have shorter wheel frame for high flexibility and tougher body structure to support the ankle. Using about the same wheel size like recreational skates, but less speed and stability due to shorter frame. Frames usually come in metal, and its main purpose is jumping around like monkey and slaloming (Slalom is an art of skating through cones with style).
Aggressive
This skate is mainly for aggressive stunts like grinding and half-pipe flips. Very tough body structure, small wheels about 50mm to 60mm diameter, high stability, but slow. Most contain very wide base for grinding.
Speed
Easily recognized with very big wheels (above 100mm) and very long frame. Usually comes with very efficient bearings, and the maximum speed can achieve car speed. Usually comes with 4 or 5 wheels.
Hockey Skates
From the name, yes, it's for inline hockey. This skate has similar properties like freestyle skates, except no tough boot structure. The whole boot structure is made of leather (lighter), and tightened with shoelace for support.
